Clinical management

  • Explanation
    • Symptoms suggestive (hyperactive, inattention, impulsive) – referred to specialist who does assessment, confirms diagnosis and starts medication
  • Treatment
    • Family therapy – reward good behaviour, ignore bad behaviour
    • Watchful waiting for up to 10w in mild cases
    • Parent education programme
    • Balanced diet, regular exercise (avoiding artificial colouring not recommended)
  • Follow-up / Safety net
