Data gathering

  • Red flags – weight loss, bony pains, haematuria
  • Others – STIs, penile discharge
  • Examine – temp, testicular examination (+ transillumination), penis examination, lymph nodes – CHAPERONE

 

Clinical management

  • Investigations
    • Testes USS
      Urine dip
    • STI screening
  • Explanation / Treatment
    • Hydrocoele – fluid around scrotal sac, can leave alone or offer surgery
    • Varicocele – dilated veins, like varicose veins on leg, can leave alone or offer surgery
    • Epididymo-orchitis – irritation of tube from testicle, usually caused by infection – antibiotics, analgesia
  • Follow-up / Safety net – any signs of torsion (severe testicular pain), refer immediately
