Differential diagnosis

  • Testicular Ca – suspicious lump, weight loss
  • Testicular torsion – sudden, severe pain
  • UTI – dysuria, frequency
  • STI – penile discharge, risk factors
  • Mumps – jaw swelling, fever, abdominal paim
  • Renal colic – episodic flank pain, haematuria
  • Hernia – on examination
  • Groin strain – exertion

  • Examine
    • External genitalia
    • Urine dip

  • Investigations
    • Urine MSU
    • Urine chlamydia/gonorrhoea (early morning sample)
    • Testicular USS
