Clinical management
- Investigations
- Bloods – fasting cholesterol, HbA1c, LFTs, U+E, TFTs
- Explanation
- High cholesterol leads to fatty plaques in your blood vessels which in turn lead to higher risk of heart disease, strokes etc
- Treatment
- Lifestyle: diet, alcohol, smoking, weight and exercise – 30 mins moderate intensity for 5 days (get a sweat/heart racing)
- Medication – atorvastatin 20mg ON (if qrisk >10%)
- Follow-up – repeat LFTs in 3 months then yearly
